The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) has achieved a new milestone as its President, Dr. Onamusi Morolayo K., has been appointed to lead the coordination of the State-Owned Hospitals' Association of Resident Doctors in the South West region.
The appointment was officially announced during the South West Caucus Meeting held in Ekiti State, marking a significant recognition of Dr. Onamusi's leadership capabilities and dedication to the medical community.
This prestigious role places Dr. Onamusi at the forefront of advocacy and representation for resident doctors across the South West region, further strengthening the voice of healthcare professionals in state-owned hospitals.
The LASUTH ARD community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Onamusi on this remarkable achievement. We are confident in her ability to bring transformative progress to the association and the region at large.
On January 17, 2025, Dr. Morolayo Onamusi, President of LASUTH-ARD, led her executive team on a courtesy visit to the LASUTH management. The meeting focused on key issues affecting resident doctors, including:
1. Paediatrics Surgery Call Room Fire Outbreak: Concerns were raised about unresolved power and air conditioning issues following the fire.
2. Power Supply Challenges: Persistent outages disrupting hospital operations were highlighted.
3. Residents’ Quarters: Delays in construction progress prompted a request for clarification on the timeline.
4. MRTF Payments: An appeal was made to expedite the submission of documents to facilitate the 2025 payment process.
Prof. Adebowale Adekoya (DCST) assured the team of the management’s commitment to addressing these concerns, including prioritizing power restoration, engaging with relevant authorities on construction delays, and ensuring the prompt submission of MRTF-related documents.
The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation and a pledge to maintain open communication for the welfare of LASUTH-ARD members.

LASUTH ARD President, Dr. Morolayo Onamusi, led the Executive Committee on a courtesy visit to the office of *Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, the Honorable Commissioner for Establishment, Training, and Pensions on Wednesday 15/01/2025. The visit was aimed at discussing key issues including the 2025 MRTF payments, accoutrement allowance, pensions, and national housing funds.
During the meeting, the LASUTH ARD President began by expressing appreciation to the Honorable Commissioner for his continuous support to the association, particularly in ensuring the prompt payment of the 2024 MRTF as previously agreed.
In his response, the Honorable Commissioner thanked the leadership of LASUTH ARD for their collaborative efforts and pledged to maintain a strong, cooperative relationship moving forward. He also emphasized the importance of non-confrontational dialogue in addressing issues.
Regarding the pension and housing funds, the Commissioner explained that the Ministry of Establishments is currently awaiting feedback from the Ministry of Justice and the Head of Service.
In response, Dr. Onamusi, the LASUTH ARD President, expressed her gratitude once again and emphasized the need for ongoing engagement and an open-door policy for continuous dialogue. She concluded by presenting a souvenir on behalf of the Congress of LASUTH-ARD to the Honorable Commissioner.
Also present at the meeting were the Director of Industrial Relations, Establishments, and the SSA to the Governor on Establishments, Training, and Pension.
The Executive Committee also made a brief stop at the office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, appreciated her and presented her with a souvenir.
